This over-inked First Republic 6d stamp was printed in deep blue by P. Davis & Son, of Pietermaritzburg,
between 1870 and 1871, from a single plate. The resulting pane of forty stamps consisted of six rows of
eight. The position can be identified as being from position eight by an ink spot on the cover of the wagon.
